Beneficial owner

Updated 2026-06

A beneficial owner is the person who ultimately owns or controls a company, even where shares are held in someone else's or another entity's name.

Following the chain of ownership to the beneficial owner is part of deeper due diligence, because the public record does not always reveal the person behind layered holdings.
