Company status

How do I check if a company is in good standing in New Zealand?

Updated 2026-06

Check that the company is currently registered, is not in liquidation, receivership, administration or strike-off, and has not been removed. Those statuses are on the public record. A company that is current and free of those flags is generally said to be in good standing.

Key facts

  • Current registration is the baseline.
  • Liquidation, receivership, administration, strike-off and removal are the flags to look for.
  • Standing can change, so confirm it close to the moment you commit.
